Congress leader Alka Lamba on Thursday congratulated Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, saying that she has a huge responsibility since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains in power in the centre and the state.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Lamba said that the cleaning of the Yamuna River by machines was merely for photo opportunities. "I congratulate her (Rekha Gupta) as she has a huge responsibility now. They (BJP) keep promising, also they have been in power at the centre. All the 7 MLAs of Delhi are from BJP. Let's see what they do to clean Yamuna now, as they are in power in Delhi as well. For now, I think all the machines cleaning Yamuna and everything there is being done just for photo ops," Lamba told ANI. Congress MP Kumari Selja extended her greetings towards the Delhi Chief Minister, wishing her the best as she hails from Haryana. "BJP government has been formed there (in Delhi), and the Chief Minister is a woman. I wish her (Rekha Gupta) all the best as she hails from Haryana and is a woman. Where there are problems, women prove everything with their hard work, and she has proved it. I congratulate her," Selja said. Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa offered prayers at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and said that the newly formed government would table 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports from 2015 at the legislative assembly. "The 14 CAG reports from 2015 that were held back by Arvind Kejriwal because there were so many scams...in the performance report, it was clear that there were so many issues, especially the liquor policy...it has been passed now. Now, these reports will be presented in the Assembly," Sirsa said. Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who chaired the first cabinet meeting hours after taking oath of office, announced that her government will implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme with Rs 5 lakh top-up and present the 14 pending CAG reports in the first sitting of Assembly. After the first cabinet meeting, Gupta allocated portfolios to the Ministers in the state government. The ministries have been divided among six MLAs, who were elected in the recently held Delhi assembly elections and sworn in as ministers on Thursday morning. As Chief Minister, Gupta has taken responsibility for departments such as General Administration, Services, Finance, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Land and Building, Information and Public Relations, Vigilance, Administrative Reforms, Planning, and any other departments not allocated to any other minister. Ashish Sood has been allocated Home, Power, Urban Development, Education, Higher Education, Training and Technical Education department. Manjinder Singh Sira, BJP MLA from Rajouri Garden, will be responsible for the Food and Supplies, Forest and Environment, and Industries departments. Minister Ravinder Singh (Indraj) has been allocated the Social Welfare, SC and ST Welfare, Cooperative, and Elections departments. BJP MLA Pravesh Verma will be in-charge of the Public Works Department (PWD), Legislative Affairs, Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC), Water, and Gurdwara elections. (ANI)
