"Around 12.5 lakh devotees arrived in Prayagraj by train": CPRO, Northeast Frontier Railway

Devotees continue to arrive in Prayagraj for the MahaKumbh Mela, with around 12.5 lakh people travelling by train, said Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway.

He stated that seamless movement is being ensured at eight railway stations in Prayagraj, with real-time monitoring through CCTV. Northeast Frontier Railway is operating 7-8 trains daily, along with special trains for the event.

Speaking to ANI, CPRO Kishore Sharma said, "Devotees are continuing to arrive in Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh Mela. Lakhs of people are coming here. There are 8 railway stations in Prayagraj where seamless movement of devotees has been arranged. Yesterday, 330 trains plied from Prayagraj station, which is a record. Around 12.5 lakh people have travelled here by train."

He further added," This is a huge number. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, monitoring is being done from station to division, zone, and from railway board to top level. Real-time monitoring is being done in the war room of Railways through CCTV footage."

"It is being ensured that no problem occurs. I urge people to not trust any rumours. This is not true...Northeast Frontier Railway is running 7-8 trains daily. Besides this, a few special trains have been arranged too," he told ANI.

Earlier in the day, ahead of Maghi Purnima Snan on February 12, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Railways has taken care of all the arrangements at eight railway stations for Prayagraj Mahakumbh.

He inspected arrangements at the Prayagraj Railway Station on Monday.

Maha Kumbh 2025, which commenced on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from across the globe. The grand event will continue till Mahashivratri on February 26. The event has already attracted millions of devotees from across the country and around the world and is expected to set new records for attendance and participation. (ANI)
