Karnataka MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal received a show cause notice from the party's Central Disciplinary Committee (CDC) on Monday for his "continuing tirade and breach of party discipline."

The MLA has, however, denied getting an official notice and said that whenever he does receive it, he would be responding with a "detailed account" of the party's position in the state.

"The media seems pleased about the notice supposedly being issued to me by the BJP Central Disciplinary Committee. However, I have not yet received any official notice. Once I do, I will respond with a detailed account of our party's position in Karnataka, as well as the failures in addressing the current Congress government's shortcomings, including the issue of adjustment politics," Yatnal said.

The party's CDC has given the Karnataka MLA 72 hours to reply and justify why the party should not take disciplinary action against him.

"The party has taken note of your continuing tirade and breach of party discipline, in clear contravention of the discipline code as enshrined in the Bharatiya Janata Party constitution and rules thereunder. Despite your assurances of good behaviour and conduct in response to earlier show cause notices, you continue to violence and flout your own assurances," the notice read.

"Please show cause as to why the party should take disciplinary action against you. Your explanation should reach the undersigned within 72 hours from the receipt of this notice," the notice added.

The Committee's show cause notice was sent by the Member Secretary of the Central Disciplinary Committee, Om Pathak.

Previously, on December 2, 2024, Yatnal had received another show cause notice from the party, over his remarks against the state-level party leadership. He also mentioned that the December notice was the fourth such notice

The BJP MLA told ANI on December, "Notice has come for the fourth time. I have replied twice. Once I did not reply because I doubted the notice whether there was some cut-and-paste...At that time also, I was given 10 days to reply but I did not...Earlier, the notice used to come by e-mail and registered posts but this time the notice came on WhatsApp. I do not know if the WhatsApp was originally from the party or not. I will have to find out before giving a reply on it." (ANI)
