Mohan Singh Bisht, the BJP's winning candidate from Mustafabad, has confirmed his intention to push for renaming Mustafabad, adding that he has been engaged in developmental work in the area since 1998.

Speaking to ANI, Bisht confirmed that he would advocate for a name change, saying, "We will change the name from Mustafabad to Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar... I will change the name because I did the development work from 1998 to 2008 there...and the development work is not related to the name."

Earlier in the day, Bisht reaffirmed his pledge to work for the development of his constituency after securing victory in the assembly elections. "I work for the development of my constituency based on my experience of 25 years. I had said that if I won, I'll change the name of Mustafabad to Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar. I'll do it," Bisht said.

The BJP candidate also pledged to push for infrastructure improvements in the constituency. He stated, "The day I take the oath, I will ask for limiting drains on the peripheral line."

Bisht was fielded by the BJP from the Muslim-dominated seat of Mustafabad. He defeated Adeel Ahmad Khan of the AAP. The BJP swept to a historic win in the Delhi assembly polls, winning 48 out of 70 seats and wresting power from the Aam Aadmi Party. The party has not yet declared any Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi.

Notably, BJP defeated prominent AAP leaders, including supremo Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi, Manish Sisodia from Jangpura, Saurabh Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash, and Satyendar Jain from Shakur Basti. (ANI)
