Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday praised the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying it instilled a "new consciousness" in fulfilling the vision of a "Developed India 2047."

Furthermore, the CM wrote that the budget gave impetus to the development of the poor and also focused on the four pillars of agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME), investment and export.

"GYAN - To give further impetus to the development based on poor, youth, farmers and women empowerment, this budget focuses on four pillars - agriculture, MSMEs, investment and export," the post read.

The CM also congratulated the PM and the Finance Minister for a budget that would help realise the mantra of a self-reliant India.

"I congratulate the Honourable Prime Minister and the Honourable Finance Minister for this budget which realises the mantra of self-reliant India with the resolve to make India the third largest economy in the world," the post read.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described the union budget as a 'band-aid for bullet wounds' and further said that the 'government is bankrupt of ideas' to boost the economy and increase employment.

The budget 2025-26 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Saturday.

"A band-aid for bullet wounds! Amid global uncertainty, solving our economic crisis demanded a paradigm shift. But this government is bankrupt of ideas," read Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi's post on X.

Party leader Jairam Ramesh said that the government has done little to address the problems concerning the economy.

"The economy is suffering from four related crises - i. Stagnant real wages ii. Lack of buoyancy in mass consumption iii. Sluggish rates of private investment iv. A complex and complicated GST system The Budget does NOTHING to address these illnesses. The only relief has been for income taxpayers. What actual impact this will have on the economy remains to be seen," he said on X. (ANI)
