On the occasion of India's 76th Republic Day, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena called on citizens to strengthen the democratic values of the Constitution, while expressing his gratitude to the security forces for their sacrifices.

In his Republic Day message, the LG underscored the importance of equality, justice, and inclusiveness in shaping the nation's future.

In a video message, the LG said, "Congratulations and warm greetings to citizens of the country, including those in Delhi, on the 76th Republic Day. I also especially thank paramilitary forces, Police and other forces for their services and sacrifices, and express my gratefulness to them. This is the day to further strengthen the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution..."

In a social media post on Sunday, the LG said, "Let us pledge to contribute to the development of the country and world peace by following the ideals of equality, inclusiveness and justice. Let us pledge to take the nation forward with a strong will and spirit of service."

This year's Republic Day celebrations in India were led by President Droupadi Murmu at Kartavya Path, where she unfurled the national flag with the assistance of Indian Navy officers Lieutenant Shubham Kumar and Lieutenant Yogita Saini.

The celebrations highlighted 75 years since the adoption of the Constitution and emphasized the theme of "Jan Bhagidari" (people's participation). Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial by laying a wreath before the flag-unfurling ceremony.

Adding to the significance of the event, Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto was invited as the chief guest for the celebrations, symbolising the deep ties between the two nations. The day witnessed a grand display of cultural diversity, military strength, and India's achievements, as the country reflected on its journey as the world's largest democracy. (ANI)
