The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled Jitendra Kumar (Jeetu Yadav), a corporator in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, from the party's primary membership for "indiscipline" and actions that allegedly tarnished the party's image.

The disciplinary action came following Yadav's dispute with Kamlesh Kalra, a fellow corporator in Indore.

Madhya Pradesh BJP General Secretary Bhagwan Das Sabnani issued an order on Saturday confirming the decision, which was made by State BJP President Vishnu Dutt Sharma.

"The image of the party has been tarnished by the dispute between Indore Municipal Corporation's Ward No 24 corporator Jitendra Kumar (Jeetu Yadav) and the subsequent indecent act with a party corporator, which comes under the purview of indiscipline," the order read.

"Therefore, BJP State President Vishnu Dutt Sharma has expelled Ward No. 24 corporator Jitendra Kumar (Jeetu Yadav) from the primary membership of the party for 6 years," added the order.

The expulsion followed Jitu Yadav's resignation from his position as a member of the Indore Mayor-in-Council (MiC). Simultaneously, his membership was revoked by Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav.

The incident escalated after Kamlesh Kalra accused Jeetu Yadav of sending a group of people to his house, where they allegedly attacked Kalra's family members.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav condemned the incident in a post on X on Thursday, describing it as "unfortunate."

"The incident of some miscreants entering the residence of Shri Kalra ji in Indore and assaulting and misbehaving with the family members is unfortunate. In this regard, the police have registered an FIR and identified 9 accused by examining CCTV footage and questioning other people, out of which 6 accused have been arrested," he wrote.

"The incident also involved misbehaviour with a minor, due to which action has also been taken under the POCSO Act. Police have been directed to take this matter seriously and take strict action against the culprits," he added. (ANI)
