Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated a Drone Training Centre at the Arts and Commerce College in Indore on Sunday, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make India the global leader in drone technology by 2030.
"The Flying Club has decided to establish a Drone Training Institute here. I congratulate them on this initiative... As PM Modi has said, by 2030, India will become the capital of drone technology in the world. The Madhya Pradesh government is fully committed to advancing drone technology, and I have encouraged them (Flying Club) to collaborate with IIT Bhopal to make this technology accessible to women, youth, and farmers so they can also benefit," said CM Yadav. Earlier, in a pioneering move, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the establishment of drone stations across the state to revolutionise disaster management. Speaking on the occasion of the 62nd Raising Day of the Home Guards, CM Sukhu emphasised the importance of adopting modern technology to bolster disaster response mechanisms amidst the growing challenges of climate change. "To address the challenges posed by climate change, it is imperative to modernise our disaster response systems. Drone stations will play a crucial role in ensuring swift and effective emergency responses," the Chief Minister said, adding that a substantial Rs 800 crore has been allocated for this ambitious project. The drone stations, akin to bus terminals, will be established at district headquarters and key locations to facilitate prompt aid delivery and monitoring. Earlier in July, Union Minister Piyush Goyal during his address at the International Innovation Conclave organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI) in New Delhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is ready to promote the drone industry that has seen rapid growth in the last three years. Praising the development of technology and growth in the drone industry on the strength of innovation, Goyal asserted that the development of the drone ecosystem and deploying them in villages across the nation aligns with the PM's 'NAMO Drone Didi' initiative that will help empower the women in the agriculture sector.
