Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Pengunda Police Help Center in the Gadchiroli district on Wednesday and expressed confidence that Naxalism will soon be eradicated from the state.

He credited the efforts of the police and district administration for the decline in Naxal recruitment and the surrender of key Naxal figures, such as Tarakka, who had been involved in the movement for 38 years.

Speaking at the gathering, CM Fadnavis said, "North Gadchiroli has become free from naxalism. South Gadchiroli will also be free from naxalism. Due to the initiatives of the police and district administration, not a single youth from the district has joined the Naxals in the last four to five years."

He added, "Recruitment of naxals has ended in Maharashtra. Many Naxals have been neutralized and arrested. Tarakka, who was a part of the Naxal movement for 38 years and worked to spread it in Maharashtra, has surrendered today. In the coming time, naxalism will be eliminated from Maharashtra."

Fadnavis further emphasized the role of Home Minister Amit Shah's coordination in the efforts to counter Naxalism, saying, "The coordination that Home Minister Amit Shah has set up has helped in cornering Naxalism. Other states in the country will also adopt the model of Maharashtra's C-60."

During his visit, the CM also inaugurated key infrastructure developments, including the Vangeturi-Gardewada-Gatta-Aheri bus service and new mobile towers.

"This is a very important police station because this area was dominated by Maoists. Our police have established their outpost by demolishing the Maoist dominance. The area is being developed, a road is being developed which will connect us with Chhattisgarh. Mobile towers are also being installed," he said.

CM Fadnavis celebrated the New Year with Gadchiroli police, CRPF, SRPF, and C-60 jawans, and interacted with them.

According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) Maharashtra, CM Fadnavis also inaugurated the Vangeturi-Gardewada-Gatta-Aheri bus service in Gadchiroli.

"Fadnavis is the first Chief Minister in the history of Maharashtra to reach this area. For the first time, a paved road was constructed in this area, and for the first time, bus service started in this area. During the first round of this bus service, Chief Minister Fadnavis interacted with the local citizens," posted CMO Maharashtra on X.

He also conducted an aerial review of the Gatta-Gardewada-Todgatta-Wangeturi road and the Tadguda bridge in Gadchiroli. (ANI)
