BJP leader RP Singh on Tuesday took a dig at the former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the "Sheesh Mahal" controversy by displaying a "gold-plated" toilet.

Singh claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor had installed 12 such toilets during the renovation of the CM's residence, with each toilet valued at Rs 1.44 crore as part of the "Sheesh Mahal" project, which is reportedly worth Rs 56 crores.

"This is a gold-plated toilet. The Chief Minister had installed 12 such toilets in his house. Toilets worth Rs 1.44 crore were installed in the 'Sheeshmahal' worth Rs 56 crores," Singh said.

He questioned the allocation of funds and raised concerns about the condition of toilets in Delhi and stated that political parties offer incentives to the public in exchange for votes, but such projects are an example of misuse of resources.

He promised that, if elected, the BJP would focus on building better facilities for the public, including toilets and bathrooms, and also accused the AAP government of exploiting the people in the name of "revdis" (freebies).

"We are telling people that they take your votes by giving you 'revdis' and then they do this. We have seen the condition of the toilets here... We are saying that when our government comes, we will build good toilets and bathrooms. Delhi is being looted in the name of 'revdis,'" Singh added.

Earlier, lashing out at Arvind Kejriwal BJP leader Vijay Goel said that the the upcoming Delhi assembly elections must be based on issues like dirty tap water, Yamuna pollution, etc.

"The announcements by Arvind Kejriwal are electoral announcements... The elections should be based on dirty tap water, Yamuna pollution, Delhi pollution, corruption... Arvind Kejriwal did not take any steps in the past 10 years and is now making new announcements each day... The one who doesn't work for 10 years only wants to win elections by announcement of freebies," said BJP leader Vijay Goel.

The 'Sheesh Mahal' controversy centres around allegations that Arvind Kejriwal spent crores of rupees renovating his official residence during the Covid-19 pandemic, a period when many public development projects were stalled.
