Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Kishan on Tuesday demanded an investigation into the death of a Congress worker, Prabhat Pandey in Lucknow on December 18 during the party's protest near the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
"... I heard that he was not taken to the hospital when he needed it... The police need to investigate how that child died in the Congress office. ... First Rahul Gandhi should answer how he died," Ravi Kishan told ANI. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak responded to Congress' allegations that UP Police were responsible for the death of a Congress worker. The Deputy Chief Minister criticised the Congress party for their behaviour and stated that he spoke with a relative of the deceased and confirmed that the person was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. He assured that the post-mortem report will reveal the truth, and the details will be shared once the report is out. "The Congress people should focus on their behaviour. They should present the truth in front of the people. I have talked to a relative of the deceased...When the deceased was brought to the hospital, he was declared dead. The Congress party should tell how they misguide the youth and take them to office. The post-mortem has been done. We will tell you everything once the reports come," he said. On Thursday, Lucknow Police reached the Congress office over the death of a Congress worker during a protest. Raveena Tyagi, DCP Central, said, "Yesterday a case was registered at a PS regarding the death of Prabhat Pandey. The cybercrime team and the digital forensic team are here and they will investigate the matter and the spot of the incident." (ANI)
