As the Uttar Pradesh Assembly winter session got underway on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak criticised the opposition for staging protests saying they were only trying to waste the time of the House.
Speaking to ANI, Pathak said "The opposition is only trying to waste the time of the House. The people of the state are not going to spare them..." Further, he said that the supplementary budget for the development of the state would be presented on Tuesday. "Today is the first day of the Vidhan Sabha. Tomorrow, we will come up with a supplementary budget for the development of the state and there will be discussions regarding the same. Our priority is the development and law and order in the state," Pathak added. Minister Sanjay Kumar Nishad said that the Congress should answer on whether their party was made only for a specific section of people or for everyone. Speaking to ANI, Nishad said "There was a temple that was shut for 40 years during the Samajwadi Party and Congress' term. They should answer whether their party is made only for a specific section or everyone." Further, he said that the Vidhan Sabha was for the public. "Vidhan Sabha is for the public and the supplementary budget is being brought.." he said. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Aradhana Misra Mona questioned why the government of a full majority was scared to have a discussion. "The age of the government is increasing and their time is reducing. Why is the government with a full majority scared to have a discussion? There are several issues like healthcare, employment, law and order, inflation and others. There should be discussions on the same..." Mona Mishra said speaking to ANI. The Winter Assembly session of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha commenced on Monday in Lucknow with extensive security arrangements in place. On the first day of the session, a formal business session will be conducted in the House, while the supplementary budget, expected to range between Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 crore, will be presented on December 17. Discussions and passage of the budget are scheduled for December 18. The legislative work will take place in the House on December 19 and 20. The Winter Assembly session will conclude on December 20.
