Singer Diljit Dosanjh has been issued an advisory by the Chairperson of Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights ahead of his December 14 concert in the city as part of his 'Dil-Luminati' India tour.
The Chandigarh Commission for Protection says that children should not be exposed to sound levels above 120 decibels, as recommended by the World Health Organisation. The commission recommends avoiding songs that promote alcohol, drugs, and violence, such as "Le Patiala Pig", "5 Tara", and "Case", even if the lyrics are modified. Additionally, it has directed that serving alcohol to youngsters below 25 years is punishable under the JJ Act and other laws. Shipra Bansal, the Chairperson of the Commission, said it had come to their notice that children were called on stage during Dosanjh's previous concerts. "Sometimes some songs are played which are not good for children," she told ANI. Bansal noted often concerts often run late, increasing the likelihood of underage drinking. She emphasized that alcohol should not be served to minors and mentioned that a similar advisory was also issued prior to Punjabi singer Karan Aujla's concert. "Concerts go on till very late at night and there is a high possibility of a supply of alcohol... Alcohol should not be served to children below 18 years of age. We also issued an advisory in view of the concert of Punjabi singer Karan Aujla., "she said. Additionally, she also expressed concern that during Diljit Dosanjh's concert, children were brought on stage and exposed to inappropriate songs and the loud sound is harmful for children. "It has come to our notice that during the last concert of singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, children were called on stage... Sometimes some songs are played which are not good for children," she said. Earlier on November 15, the Telangana government served Dosanjh a legal notice, directing him not to sing any songs which promote alcohol, drugs and violence. (ANI)
