"Projects are for connectivity of tribal area": Ashwini Vaishnaw after President Murmu lays foundation stone for rail lines in Odisha

After President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stones for three rail lines in Odisha's Mayurbhanj, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the overall development of the state and that these projects are meant to improve connectivity in tribal areas of the region.

Speaking to ANI, Ashwnini Vaishnaw said that the three projects of the Mayurbhanj district have been awaited for many decades.

"Today, President Droupadi Murmu performed the Bhoomi Pujan for these three projects, work on them was going on for a very long time. The Bangiriposi-Gorumahisan project is worth Rs 2550 crores, the Budhamara-Chakulia project is worth Rs 2106 crores and the Badampahar-Keonjhar project is worth Rs 1649 crores. These three projects are meant to improve connectivity in tribal areas of the region," he said.

"All these three projects were sanctioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and today the President performed the Bhoomi Pujan. The Prime Minister is committed to the overall development of Odisha," Vaishnaw added.

Earlier today, President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stones for three rail lines Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani; Buramara-Chakulia; and Badampahar-Kendujhargarh; as well as for the Tribal Research and Development Centre, Dandbose Airport; and new building of Sub-Divisional Hospital, Rairangpur at Rairangpur, Odisha.

President Murmu expressed confidence that rail projects and airport would boost transportation, commerce, and business in the region. The new hospital building with a 100-bed facility would provide better health facilities to the local people.

President Murmu said that Odisha is getting benefitted from the Purvodaya vision of the Government of India. The development of the entire region is being accelerated through various welfare schemes including education, skill development, health, tourism connectivity, and transportation facilities.

She said that Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being established to educate tribal children. She was happy to note that more than 100 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being established in Odisha, including 23 schools in the Mayurbhanj district.

She expressed confidence that after getting education from those schools, tribal children would be able to give quality contribution to the progress of society and country. (ANI)
