Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday questioned the Delhi Police, accusing them of "doing nothing," in a murder case of a man stabbed to death in Naraina.
Arvind Kejriwal's remark came after he, along with AAP MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and MLA Durgesh Pathak, met with the victim's family. The AAP national convenor stated that the victim's younger brother had also been murdered six months ago, and questioned why the Delhi police took action then. "The sad thing is that the victim's younger brother was murdered 6 months ago. That time, their family had given in writing to the Police that the whole family has threat from these people and they needed protection," Kejriwal said to the media. He further claimed that locals had informed him about the presence of a group of 5-7 youths in the Naraina area who were causing trouble and no action was taken. "When I visited the victim's family, the locals said that there are 5-7 youths in the Naraina area, who have created chaos there but the Police are doing nothing. Why didn't the Police take action when the victim's brother was murdered?", he added. Kejriwal also accused the BJP of allowing Delhi to fall into the hands of criminals. "When the family members protested yesterday, the police lathi-charged them. What kind of law and order is this? The Union Home Minister and the BJP have handed Delhi over to goons, gangsters, and rapists," he said. "When the family members protested yesterday, Police lathi-charged them.
