Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Tuesday held the Uttar Pradesh administration responsible for recent violence in Sambhal and alleged that the people are being harassed continuously in Sambhal by filing false cases.
"The administration is responsible. People are being harassed continuously in Sambhal by filing false cases, our MP was not even present, he was in Bengaluru at the time of the incident, but his name has also been included," Dimple Yadav told ANI. She further said that the people of the Bharatiya Janata Party do not want this country to be run by the Constitution. "We want that every day should be celebrated like Constitution Day and the kind of incident that we have seen and the way our elections which have just been completed and the kind of incidents that we have seen in these elections, the Sambhal incident as well, somewhere these BJP people do not want this country to run by the Constitution, that is why we have not gone inside today but we have taken the oath of the Constitution today in the office," she added. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly LoP Mata Prasad Pandey said that he was scheduled to visit the affected area of Sambhal but the DGP asked not go to their for the next three days. "Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had formed a delegation under my leadership so that the information about the Sambhal incident could be obtained correctly. I was about to leave at 10 am today for Sambhal, but I spoke to the DGP over the phone. He said that a fair investigation would be conducted and I should not go there for 3 days. So, I stayed here today on the DGP's request and assurance," Pandey said addressing a press conference. RJD MP Manoj Jha said, "What about the Places of Worship Act? Did the court not know about it?" Earlier, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Akhilesh Yadav opposed the celebrations of the Constitution Day and questioned on how one could celebrate the day considering the kind of work the government did which had taken lives in Sambhal. Speaking to the media, Yadav said "I want to congratulate you for the Constitution Day. True celebration is only when you follow the path of the Constitution. How can celebrations be held in the shadow of grief? Celebrating at a time when the kind of work the government has done in Sambhal when it has taken lives and justice is not being served.. False cases are being filed against the MP there, the MLA and his son. The market in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal opened after violence following the stone pelting incident which took place when a team arrived to survey Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24. Deputy Inspector General of Police Moradabad Range, Muniraj G said that the situation is normal in Sambhal today. "The situation is normal in Sambhal today. The markets are operational and functionally normally. People should not worry; those innocent will not be penalised. Till now, 7 FIRs have been filed. We are identifying people based on video footage," DIG Muniraj said. Opposition members have been keen to raise the issue in the House and have targeted the Yogi Adityanath government over the violence. The survey was part of a legal process following a petition filed by senior advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who claimed the mosque was originally a temple. (ANI)
