As the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is poised to retain power in Maharashtra with record majority, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Saturday credited the results to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his slogan 'Ek hai to safe hai'.

Speaking to ANI, Poonawalla said that people have shown trust in the leadership of PM Modi and accepted the developmental work done by Mahayuti.

"The public of Maharashtra by forming the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra once again has shown their trust in the leadership of PM Modi and the slogan 'Ek hai toh safe hai'. The public has accepted the development works done by the Mahayuti government in the state,"

Hailing PM Modi, Poonawalla said, "The way BJP won by gaining tremendous victory, this only shows that 'Modi hai to munkin hai.' Modi means pro-incumbency, performance and delivery."

Earlier today, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis said that the people of Maharashtra have given Mahayuti an "unprecedented victory" and there "will be no dispute on CM's face".

"The people of Maharashtra have given us an unprecedented victory. This shows that people are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In line with the slogan he gave 'ek hain toh safe hain', people from all sections and communities voted for us unitedly...," Fadnavis told reporters here.

"This is the victory of Mahayuti, CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Ramdas Athawale, this is the victory of unity...," he added.

According to current trends, in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance has crossed the crucial majority mark, as per ECI data. As per the initial results, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 126 seats and has won 3, driving the charge in Maharashtra.

The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (SHS) follows closely, with leads in 55 seats and 2 wins. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, is leading in 37 seats with 2 wins, while the Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RSHYVSWBHM) is leading in 1 seat. (ANI)
