Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday said that Infrastructure development is happening in the national capital on a 'war footing' and the fourth phase of the metro is also expanding rapidly as part of which, which she inspected driverless metro train at the Mukundpur Depot which will roll out in next couple of months.

"Infrastructure is being expanded on a war footing in Delhi. Be it roads or flyovers, development work is progressing rapidly. The fourth phase of the metro is also expanding rapidly. Today I inspected the State-of-the-Art Driverless Train at the Mukundpur Depot," the Delhi CM said on Tuesday.

"The new trains that I have inspected today will start rolling out on the ground in the next 3 to 4 months and many lines of Phase 4 will also start operating in a few months," she added.

Delhi CM further credited former CM Arvind Kejriwal for expanding the metro network and said, "From 1998 to 2014, only 193 km of metro line was constructed in Delhi. But, under the leadership of Kejriwal ji, one and a half times expansion has been completed in the last 10 years. Till 2014, Delhi Metro had only 143 stations, today Delhi Metro has 288 stations."

When asked about AAP leaders from different parties joining AAP, she affirmed confidence in the party, and said that many people are joining AAP continuously.

"Aam Aadmi Party was formed in 2012. That day Arvind Kejriwal had said that if there are good people in any party who want to join AAP, they are welcome in AAP. People from different parties, social organizations, social workers are continuously joining AAP," she further said.

Earlier speaking to ANI at the Metro, Atishi said, "Today we are at the Delhi Metro depot in Mukundpur and it is a matter of great pride that the trains of Phase Four Metro, which is an ambitious expansion of 186 km of Metro, have started coming on the ground. So this is the first train at the Mukundpur depot. This is a six-car train and it will be used in the Magenta Line. So right now all of the testing is taking place."

"It is a driverless train. Even now Delhi Metro is the only metro in the whole country in which driverless trains are running, whose safety is very high and I am happy that Delhi Metro has been expanding at a very fast pace for the last 10 years. It has reached every corner of Delhi," said Atishi.

Atishi also spoke over the poor air quality in the national capital and said that remaining NCR states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh should also take steps to curb pollution.

"I would like to request that in the rest of the states of NCR, the truth is that GRAP is not implemented at all. The rest of the states in NCR, whether it is Haryana, Rajasthan, or Uttar Pradesh, should also implement GRAP and secondly, my request to the central government is that until the central government comes forward and does not stop stubble burning in the rest of the states, then there will be no solution to the fog that is looming over the entire North India," Atishi said.

The air quality in the national capital remained in the 'severe plus' category for the second consecutive day on Tuesday morning, with smog shrouding the city, reducing visibility and worsening air pollution to touch an alarmingly high level of poor AQI. (ANI)
