With campaigning in full swing ahead of Maharashtra assembly elections, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Saturday exuded confidence in winning the Maharashtra polls and said that Maha Vikas Aghadi will win over 175 seats.

"We are confident that the Congress party, Sharad Pawar ji, Uddhav Thackeray ji, all of them will win the elections and save Maharashtra. Maha Vikas Aghadi will win about 175 seats...The entire country has followed Maharashtra and Karnataka itself is a model for Maharashtra," Shivakumar said.

"They (Mahayuti) are copying our guarantees. We gave Rs 2000 to women and they started with Rs 1,500...Congress party has given five guarantees and we are going to win and implement all the guarantees," he added.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said that Maha Vikas Aghadi will win in the majority of the seats and MVA will form its government in Maharashtra.

"I hope that Maha Vikas Aghadi will win in the majority of the seats and MVA will form its government in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra government has given an advertisement that the Karnataka government has not implemented 5 guarantee schemes. As a matter of fact, we have implemented all 5 guarantee schemes. We have spent Rs 56,000 crores on the first cabinet itself. We came to power on 20th May 2023 and in the first cabinet meeting itself, we implemented all 5 schemes," Siddaramaiah said.

Campaigning in Maharashtra has intensified as both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) vie for voters' support.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, votes will be counted on November 23.

In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP secured 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the MVA delivered a strong performance, winning 30 of the 48 seats, while the Mahayuti managed to secure 17. (ANI)
