BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan hit out at the Congress government in Karnataka and alleged that the fresh smoking gun documents in the media has exposed that the state government was proposing 4 percent Muslim reservation and asked why the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was lying.

CR Kesavan said, "The Karnataka Congress government has become a dangerous black hole for regressive religious polarisation. Media has exposed communal agenda of Congress. Karnataka government is planning and proposing the 4 percent Muslim reservation. Recently Deputy CM Shivakumar spoke about scrapping Shakti Free Bus Scheme for women."

He further said that Rahul Gandhi should think about this Anyay Patra for women of Karnataka and Nyay Patra for Muslim reservation.

"Yesterday, the Karnataka Chief Minister's office flatly and vehemently denied there was no proposal for Muslim quota in public contracts. Today's smoking gun documents in the media which have come out have very clearly shown on August 24th there was a representation by MLCs and MLAs including a political secretary of a chief minister to give Muslim reservation, under category 2B of the OBC in government contracts. There is seal and signature by CM on August 31. This contradicts their position. Why did the CM lie? The WAQF board is running amok and trying to grab farmers' land in unjust manner," he added.

He further said that former Congress PM Rajiv Gandhi on September 6, 1990 when he was speaking on Mandal Commission Report for reservation of OBC's vehemently supported reservation for muslims and made a divisive distinction between SC community and other backward class.

"Rahul Gandhi should answer is it being done at his behest or what does he think about the Muslim reservation and public contracts being planned to be given to Muslims? This is the question which Rahul Gandhi and the Karnataka Congress government have to answer before the people of Karnataka," he added.

Earlier the Karnataka Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Tuesday responded to media reports claiming that the state government was considering a proposal for Muslim reservation in jobs, calling the reports "another new lie."

The statement clarified that while there has been demand for reservation, "there is no proposal before the government in this regard."

This clarification comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding the issue of reservations for Muslims in Karnataka. The official statement from the CMO said, "A report has been published in some media that a proposal to give reservations to Muslims in jobs is before the government."

"It is true that there has been a demand for reservation. However, it has been clarified that there is no proposal before the government in this regard," the CMO added. (ANI)
