With Maharashtra elections drawing closer, the political fight in the state has turned violent, with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena alleging attacks on its women workers by Shiv Sena (UBT) members in Jogeshwari assembly constituency.

Reportedly, the workers of two 'Sena' parties clashed at Jogeshwari Matoshree Club on Tuesday night, November 12.

Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) leader Sheetal Mhatre alleged that the women workers of her party were attacked and their clothes were 'torn' by the UBT workers at late night on Tuesday.

"UBT's Jogeshwari assembly constituency candidate's workers attacked the women workers of Shiv Sena--they tried to videograph, tore their clothes, and later attacked one of the woman's cars and followed her to her residence," Sheetal Mhatre told mediapersons.

"Some of them were criminals, half murderers. They know that they are going to lose the elections, and they are trying to create an atmosphere of fear and destroy the peaceful election process going on in Maharashtra," she added.

She said that she had reported the incident to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, asserting police action against the miscreants.

"But we will not let this happen; we talked to our Chief Minister, Shinde Sahab, and police action will be taken against them, and the work of taking control of everything has started," Mhatre said.

"I want to ask Uddhav Ji, what are your people doing? I want to ask Aditya Thackeray and Rashmi Thackeray, what are you doing? Your people are attacking the women of Maharashtra like this," she questioned.

288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will go to the polls on November 20, with the counting of votes to be held on November 23.

Earlier, addressing election rallies in Chimur, Solapur, and Pune, PM Modi largely focused his attack on Congress, alleging that the party is "looting people" in Karnataka and the money is allegedly being used to fight polls.

He also attacked the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, saying its vehicle has no wheels or brakes" and there is a fight over who will drive it.

"Congress is unhappy with your unity, and it wants one caste to fight the other. Will you allow this conspiracy to succeed? We have to stay united to defeat the dangerous plans of Congress; hence, my appeal to you is 'hum ek hain to safe hain (we are safe if we are united)," he said.

Mahrashtra will see a two-way contest between the Mahayuti alliance comprised of the BJP, Eknath Shinbde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP with Maha Vikas Aghadi, consisting of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar-led NCP. (ANI)
