Eight people sustained burn injuries following an explosion at an Indian Oil refinery in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura on Tuesday evening, police said.

According to the refinery's Public Relations Officer, Renu Pathak, a minor fire broke out in the Atmospheric Vacuum Unit (AVU).

"Eight people suffered minor burn injuries. Three have been referred to Apollo Hospital, and five have been sent to the refinery hospital," Pathak told ANI.

"Everyone's condition is stable," she added.

Dr Dinesh Yadav of City Hospital, speaking to ANI, said that four people with 40-50 per cent burn injuries were brought to the hospital, and their condition was stable.

"Four patients with burn injuries were brought from the refinery. They are stable and receiving treatment," Dr Yadav said.
