All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader D Jayakumar reiterated that the party's stand is clear and it wants no relation or alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

AIADMK Chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, chaired the party's monitoring review committee meeting at the party headquarters in Chennai today.

After the meeting, party leader Jayakumar said, "No relation and alliance with BJP, that is our stand...We have many strategies for 2026 and we will win."

This comes after AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami, on Sunday said that his party is ready to join like-minded parties to defeat the DMK government in the state.

Speaking further, Jayakumar said on Monday, that Palaniswami's statement was misinterpreted by media and there was a debate based on that.

"Yesterday our leader Edappadi Palaniswami's statement was intentionally misinterpreted and the media did debate on this. Tamil Nadu people won't allow anyone to benefit from such reports. Our Party stand as a whole remains the same," he said.

The meeting of the AIADMK focused on discussing the election strategies for the local body and state assembly elections likely to be held in 2026.

Earlier, on August 16, A meeting of the executive committee of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) was held at the party's headquarters in Tamil Nadu's Chennai.

During the meeting chaired by party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, the AIADMK executive committee firmly endorsed Palaniswami's leadership and discussed strategies for the local body and state assembly elections likely to be held in 2026.

Nine resolutions were passed in the executive committee meeting. The earlier resolutions condemned the DMK administration for its alleged failures in distributing essential items through ration shops, increasing electricity bills, and halting welfare schemes that were previously introduced during the AIADMK tenure.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the DMK won 22 out of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu while the AIADMK lost the lone seat (Theni) it had won in 2019. (ANI)
