Retired Additional Director General of Police KS Suresh Babu passed away on November 7 at 5 pm.
He served in the Karnataka Cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from 1974 to 2006, earning respect for his integrity and professionalism. During his distinguished career, Suresh Babu held several key positions, including IGP (Southern Range, Mysore), IGP (Western Range, Mangalore), IGP (Intelligence), Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Bangalore City, and Director of the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysore, among others. He was decorated with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1999 and the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services in 2005. After retiring, he continued to contribute to society by writing a popular weekly column on various aspects of policing for Udayavani, a Kannada daily. According to an official statement," He has been a resource person to the NLSUI, Karnataka Judicial Academy, Bangalore, Karnataka Police Academy, Mysore, SDM Law College, Mangalore, Christ University, Bangalore and Alliance Law University, Bangalore." Before joining the police force, Babu taught Botany to graduate and undergraduate students for more than five years, laying the foundation for his deep intellectual pursuits. Mr Babu was a voracious reader and spoke eloquently on a range of subjects from improving police-public relations to spirituality. He is remembered fondly by friends and family for his warmth and affection, the statement added. He is survived by his wife, Shamala, daughters Shalini and Savitha, sons-in-law Shasidhar and Sumanth, three grandchildren, and a large circle of friends and family. (ANI)
