Senior Congress leader Udit Raj slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "ATM remarks" on the Congress party and invoked the electoral bonds issue on the BJP.

Speaking to ANI, Udit Raj alleged that the BJP "treated the people of this country as an ATM for itself on November 8, 2016" refering to the demonetisation.

"They made the public of the country the ATM of BJP on 8th November 2016. Can there be a bigger ATM for the BJP than Electoral Bonds? Banks are being looted. Around Rs 25 Lakhs of loan waiver is also their ATM. Adani and Ambani are their two biggest ATMs. Can they prove what they said about Karnataka? Does this behove of a Prime Minister to speak irresponsibly?" he said.

"We can give proof of thousands of scams by PM Modi. But the agencies won't take it up as long as it is their government in power," the Congress leader said.

Addressing an election rally in Maharashtra' Akola on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi attacked Congress and the Gandhi family, saying that they are using Karnataka and other states where they are in power as an "ATM."

"Wherever Congress forms government, that state becomes an ATM for the Congress' royal family. These days Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana have become their ATMs. In the name of elections in Maharashtra, they have looted worth Rs 700 crores from liquor sellers in Karnataka. You can imagine the loot once they win the elections," he said.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa on Sunday backed PM Modi's remarks and alleged that the Congress "looted" money and sent the amount for the Maharashtra assembly elections.

"What PM said is 100 per cent correct. They looted here like anything. They have sent that amount for the Maharashtra election," Yediyurappa said. (ANI)
