Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's Jharkhand election-incharge Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday hit out at the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led state government under whom, he alleged corruption was quite high.
Responding to allegations of action by Enforcement Directorate in the state, Chouhan who is BJP's Jharkhand election-incharge told ANI,"Investigation agencies do their work. The government has no involvement in it. Corruption is high here." Earlier on Saturday the I-T department raided the residences of Sunil Srivastava, an alleged close aide and personal secretary to chief minister Hemant Soren in Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Soren questioned the timing of the I-T raids on his associate, highlighting that such actions had become increasingly common since 2014. "Have you ever seen such action in the middle of elections?" Soren asked, referring to the raids conducted. "Income tax raided the premises of my associates. I don't need to say much about this because I have spoken many times about the condition of constitutional agencies. The whole country is watching on which parameters they are working and against whom they are working," Soren said. BJP leader Pratul Shahdeo also took a jibe at Soren, after the latter questioned the timing of the recent raids. Speaking to ANI on Sunday, BJP leader Shahdeo said, "He is rattled especially because crores of rupees of hawala money was being sent in for the elections and Income Tax raids have ruined their plans, however, we are waiting for the detailed reaction of Income Tax on these raids. But the reaction of the Chief Minister is clearly showing that the arrow has hit the target." Menwhile, Shivraj Singh Chouhan also expressed confidence in the BJP and its allies winning the assembly elections, informing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to hold two public rallies and also conduct a roadshow in the State on November 11. "PM Modi resides in the hearts of people of Jharkhand. People of the state have placed their trust in PM Modi. Ranchi and Jharkhand are awaiting his arrival. He will hold two public rallies today and conduct a roadshow. PM Modi's arrival means the rise of the sun of development. The sun of development will rise in Jharkhand. BJP-NDA will win the election here," he told ANI. Chouhan also visited the route of PM Narendra Modi's roadshow in Ranchi scheduled for later today and interacted with sanitation workers and security personnel. The roadshow, spanning approximately 3 kilometers, is expected to attract a substantial crowd, underscoring the significance of the event as a strategic show of strength for the party. Voting for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly is scheduled to be held in two phases on November 13 and 20 and counting on November 23. (ANI)
