A jeweller in the national capital's Rohini area has alleged that he has received extortion calls from an individual who claimed to be a member of the criminal Kala Jathedi gang, police said .

According to Delhi Police, "The caller claimed to be a member of the Kala Jathedi gang and demanded extortion money from the jeweller. The jeweller recorded the caller's conversation, a video of which has surfaced and gone viral on social media."

"The caller spoke to the jeweller for a few minutes. In the recorded conversation the jeweller's wife could be heard pleading before the caller, saying that their family did not have money and was in debt but the caller still threatened the entire family with dire consequences if they failed to pay up," said the police.

The jeweller during an investigation told police that the first call from the accused was received by his wife on November 6, wherein the caller threatened his wife and demanded extortion.

The jeweller and his wife received the second call on November 7, again demanding extortion in the name of gangster Kala Jathedi and threatening dire consequences for the jeweller and his wife.

Following this, the jeweller lodged a complaint at the Aman Vihar police station.

The matter is being investigated and further details on the matter are awaited.

Earlier, a Delhi-based music producer received an extortion call of Rs 5 crore from a caller who identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldi Brar Gang, said the police.

The victim, identified as Amandeep Batra (39) a resident of Greater Kailash, said that he received a call in which the caller identified himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldi Brar group and demanded the amount.

The victim in his FIR alleged that the caller threatened him to provide Rs 5 crore rupees and also gave death threats, stating that if he failed to do so, he would send goons to his residence to get him killed.

Amandeep further stated that he made a PCR call on 112 and informed about the incident. (ANI)
