Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) | November 10, 2024 10:41:55 AM IST
Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Darakhshan Andrabi on Sunday condemned the killing of two Village Defence Guards (VDG) members by terrorists, and said the 'enemies' don't want peace to prevail.

She further said it is a matter of "great concern" that such incidents (of violence) have started again.

"It is a matter of great concern for all of us that such incidents have started again. And this is the trick of the enemies. They do not want peace to prevail in Jammu & Kashmir, nor do they love the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They are not liking the prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. That is why they want to create chaos here again by coming here," Andrabi told ANI.

Earlier, BJP leader Ravinder Raina on Saturday met the families of the Village Defence Guards (VDGs) who were killed in targeted violence on November 7.

"Coward Pakistani terrorists have killed humanity with barbarism...The terrorists not only killed the VDG members, they also mutilated their bodies. They will have to pay a heavy price for this. Indian Army, J&K Police, and Paramilitary forces have cordoned off the area. Terrorists and their helpers will not be spared. The LG and CM have announced that the government will provide all possible help to the victim families," said Ravinder Raina.

On Thursday, terrorists killed two VDG members identified as Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, both residents of the Kuntwara area in Kishtwar. They had gone to graze their cattle in the forest, police said.

The bodies of the two VDGs, who were abducted and killed in a recent terror attack in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, have been recovered, police said on Friday.

The bodies were recovered from the forested areas of Ohli Kuntwara following an intensive joint search operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Army.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and J-K Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, both condemned the violence against the VDG members. CM Abdullah urged the security forces to ensure that such attacks stop completely, while LG Sinha said that the government was committed to destroying all terror outfits and avenging the barbaric act.
