Shortly after Shiv Sena (UBT) released their 'Vachan Nama' (manifesto), party leader Subhash Desai that even though the Maha Vikas Aghadi has released their manifesto before, all the issues cannot be addressed in one manifesto.

"It is not about having a difference, MVA announced few guarantees yesterday, and they said that they will release another one in November 10. But there are so many issues here that all cannot be included in just one 'Vachan Nama', so to give solutions on the issues is needed," he said.

Highlighting the various interests of the people and groups, he added further, "There is a group of pensioners, a group of sarpanches who are saying that we are dying, and the government is not listening. There are a lot of people like that. The people are so upset, that they want that whoever comes to power in the government have some commitment. So after that too when Uddhav sahab released the Vachan Nama, it mentions some of these issues."

Earlier today, the Shiv Sena (UBT) party released a 10 point manifesto, mentioning certain guarantees for women, farmers, and other disadvantaged groups.

The manifesto promises bringing back the old pension scheme, conducting a caste census across the state, provide cashless medical treatment upto 35 lakhs to families, building a temple of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in every district, food security and many other promises.

The Shiv Sena leader put forth one of the guarantees of the manifesto, the "annasuraksha" (food security), which promises stable prices for 5 essential commodities without causing a loss to farmers.

"Five things are there, wheat, rice, oil, pulses and sugar. When the first government of Shiv Sena came to power in Maharashtra, when Manoj Joshi was Chief Minister, that is when this decision was taken too. There was a hoarding put that the prices of these commodities would not increase. Just like that we have promised this, the women, poor people are stressed with this. That is why we have promised this that atleast for five years they don't have to worry about increasing prices," he added.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Wednesday announced five guarantees ahead of Maharashtra assembly polls at a joint rally here including Mahalakshmi Yojana for women under which Rs 3,000 will be given per month to one woman in every family and free bus travel for women.

The rally was attended by the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Udhav Thackeray, Congress chief in Maharashtra Nana Patole, party leader Ramesh Chennithala and some other leaders of the alliance.

Rahul Gandhi announced Mahalakshmi Yojana for women. Under this scheme, Rs 3,000 will be given per month to one woman in every family. Besides, every woman will be entitled to free bus travel under the scheme.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place on November 20, with the counting of votes for all 288 constituencies set for November 23. (ANI)
