Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Manoj Pandey hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, saying that the party has "no courage" as they have not talked about real issues in the state and the country.

The JMM leader told ANI, "They should give the answers on the issues, but they will talk about infiltrators, about Hindus-Muslims, about India-Pakistan, they just beat the drums about these things to show the people. Why do it? Why not talk about the issues? They won't do it, they have no courage, the courage to stand in front of 'sher dil Soren', this thing about 56-inch? I think it won't be 56 centimetres."

Highlighting that the BJP "plays foul games" in politics, he also mentioned how the previous governments shut down various schools, cancelled lakhs of ration cards and could not control inflation.

"This entire fight is between real '56-inch' and duplicate '56-inch'. Son of a tribal agitator, who has fighting and winning in his DNA. We the Jharkhandis fight and win. They give a slogan of 56-inch but don't do any work like that. They fight political fights through foul games. They field ED, CBI, IT, EC...If you have courage, answer me - why did 13,000 schools shut down? Why was the ration card of 11 lakh people cancelled? Why could not bring inflation under control? Why is LPG expensive?" Pandey added.

Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren challenged the party to fight him upfront in the upcoming state's electoral battle instead of attacking him "from behind like the cowardly British."

Hitting out at the BJP in a post on X, he said , "Agar himmat hai toh samnse se lado - kayar ki tarah lagatar peeche se vaar kyu? (If you have courage then fight from the front - why keep attacking from behind like the cowardly British?)"

The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. A total of 2.6 crore voters are eligible to participate, including 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters, as well as 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters.

In the 2020 Assembly elections, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 30 seats, the BJP won 25 seats, and the Congress won 16 seats. In 2014, the BJP won 37 seats, JMM won 19 seats, and Congress won just 6 seats. (ANI)
