Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to arrive shortly at the Gandhian Ideology Centre in Bowenpally for a meeting on the caste census.

Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and other Congress ministers, MPs, MLAs, and prominent leaders are also expected to attend.

The Telangana State-Level Consultations on the caste census are being held at the Gandhian Ideology Centre. Congress leader Dr Kota Neelima spoke about the significance of the meeting.

She stated, "He'll be here very soon. I can only share this much. We are all waiting for him with bated breath. This is a historic moment. We are not only conducting a caste census but also a household census, which has never been done before. The methodology of this census will set an example for the entire world, not just India."

Dr Neelima also highlighted the emotional bond between Rahul Gandhi and the people of Telangana. "You have seen the poster. It's one large heart. I want to say that it represents the heart of Telangana. The kind of love people have for Rahul Gandhi is the kind of emotion the poster conveys. It's the affection, respect, and admiration that the people of Telangana hold," she added.

In preparation for the meeting, posters of Rahul Gandhi, alongside CM Revanth Reddy and other party leaders, have been displayed across Medchal-Malkajgiri.

Earlier in the day, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar provided details about the caste survey, which is being conducted for the first time in Telangana. "Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Hyderabad to hold a meeting with intellectuals and stakeholders on the caste survey initiated by the state government...A caste survey is being conducted for the first time in Telangana. Each enumerator has been assigned 150 households to survey, and decisions will be made accordingly to benefit them," Prabhakar said on Monday.

In October, Prabhakar announced that a comprehensive caste survey would take place in Telangana from November 6 to November 30. "A detailed caste survey will be conducted in Telangana from November 6 to November 30. We promised this during elections, and now we are fulfilling it," Prabhakar stated.

The Congress party has consistently advocated for a nationwide caste census, calling it a "progressive and significant step." (ANI)
