Congress national spokesperson Shama Mohamed exuded confidence in party general secretary and candidate Priyanka Gandhi winning the Wayanad Lok Sabha bye-elections with a huge margin.

Priyanka Gandhi along with party MP Rahul Gandhi kickstarted poll campaign in Wayanad on Sunday for the bypolls scheduled to be held on November 13.

Speaking to ANI on Sunday, Shama Mohammed said, "We are 110 per cent sure that she is going to win with more than 5 lakh votes. People of Wayanad are very excited. I have been everywhere. People are like we are going to vote for Priyanka Gandhi, across party lines, not just from Congress and league. I'm sure even the BJP CPM will vote for her."

Praising the campaigning experience of the Congress leader, the party spokesperson said, "Priyanka Gandhi is a very strong leader, she has been campaigning for the last 30 years so she is not new to politics, show knows how to go about it. She is genuine with people. When she meets anybody, she hugs them and sees to it that their problem is solved."

Wayanad, a Congress bastion is going to see a contest between Congress's Priyanka Gandhi, BJP's Navya Haridas and the Left candidate Sathyan Mokeri in the upcoming bypolls on November 13.

Gandhi kicked off her campaign earlier today for the seat, with her brother, Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also participating in the election campaign in support of her.

Priyanka Gandhi is contesting from the Wayanad constituency as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate, and is seeking election from the seat her brother vacated.

The seat was vacated after Rahul Gandhi was also elected to Lok Sabha from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh in the general elections held earlier this year.

Along with Wayanad, voting for bye-elections in 47 assembly seats across 15 states.(ANI)
