Mumbai: 2 injured after fire breaks out in 31-storey residential building in Goregaon

Two people were injured in a fire that broke out in a 31-storey residential building in Mumbai's Goregaon, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Saturday.

The fire erupted around 12:45 pm on the second floor of the Kalptaru residency building, located at Siddharth Nagar near Prabodhan garden in Goregaon west area, officials said.

The two injured, Monoj Chauhan and Shahabuddin, are in critical condition and reciving treatment, officials added.

The fire was extinguished around 2: 15 pm.

It was confined to electric wiring, electric installation, household articles etc on the 2nd floor, officials said.

In a similar incident today, a fire broke out at a scrap shop in Maharashtra's Andheri East in Mumbai, police said on Saturday.

According to Mumbai police, the fire incident was reported in the morning hours of Saturday in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Andheri East.

As per the police, efforts to douse the fire which was spread across a large area of the scrap shop was underway at the time of filing this report.

On Friday, a similar fire incident was reported in high rise building of Goregaon area of Mumbai.

Upon receiving the information about the fire, five vehicles of fire brigade reached the spot to douse the fire. (ANI)
