Hyderabad: 7ft tall Murrah Buffalo 'Gholu-2' brought from Haryana, ahead of "Sadar Festival"

Ahead of the Sadar Festival in Hyedrabad, a champion Murrah buffalo bull, 'Gholu-2', weighing approximately 2 tons and stading 7-feet tall has arrived from Haryana.

The Sadar Festival is an annual celebration held for two days after Diwali, will be celebrated on Saturday in Khairatabad, Hyderabad. Organised by the Yadav community, the carnival features a lively procession of decorated buffaloes paraded through the streets in a show of pride and devotion.

Congress MP Anil Kumar Yadav stated that, due to the efforts and full support of Telangana's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's government, they were able to cover the festival expenses. The event, which involves worshipping cows and buffaloes, is a vibrant cultural celebration deeply rooted in the traditions of the Yadav community.

"Like every year, this year too, Sadar Sammelan is held in Hyderabad with great pomp and show in which people of the Yadav community come and worship their cows and buffaloes. Our CM Revanth Reddy has made this Sadar festival a state festival and the expenses incurred by the members of the Yadav community are also being fully supported by the government..." he said.

Edla Haribabu, Organizer, All India Yadav Mahasabha, Telangana State General Secretary said, "On November 2nd, we're hosting the Sadar Festival, featuring five majestic buffalo bulls from Haryana and Punjab - Gholu- 2, Srikrishna, Vidayak, Basha, and Shera. These bulls will be the main attraction. Gholu- 2's owner Narendra Singh received Padma Shri award from the Indian government. This impressive bull weighs 1,800-2,000 kg and stands 7 feet tall. Its diet includes apples, bananas, dry fruits, milk, and ghee. We provide it with air-conditioned transportation, walking exercises, and massages. We've been organising the Sadar Festival in Hyderabad for 18 years, and it's now celebrated across Telangana. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has declared it an official festival..."

According to the organisers, the event was started in 1942 by the Yadav community. People from all religions, irrespective of caste and creed, participates in this festival, especially the youth.

Buffaloes from across the country make their presence felt in the event, which is held after Diwali. The decorated buffalos are paraded before gatherings.

Sadar is a buffalo carnival celebrated annually by the Yadav community of Hyderabad as a part of Diwali. The buffaloes are decorated with garlands of flowers, and painted horns, and paraded through the streets, often accompanied by the dancing crowd.

The Murrah is a world-famous high-yield breed found primarily in Haryana's Rohtak and Jind districts, besides in Western Uttar Pradesh. (ANI)
