The Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways celebrated 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day) with a virtual pledge to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. The pledge was read by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, joined by thousands of colleagues in Dibrugarh on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Sonowal highlighted the enduring vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for a strong Bharat, which has been revitalised through the nation-building efforts of the Narendra Modi-led government over the past decade. "PM Modi has tirelessly inspired the national consciousness, unifying the country. His 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas' philosophy mirrors Sardar Patel's mission to unify princely states for a stronger nation. Built on the foundation laid by Sardar Patel's selfless efforts, India is progressing towards 'Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat'. PM Modi is following the path of Sardar Patel, leading the country towards inclusive development. I pay homage to Sardar Patel for his invaluable contribution to building a strong India," said Sonowal. The event began with Union Minister Sonowal performing 'Pad Puja' and offering floral tributes to an image of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. In a pointed remark, Sonowal criticised Congress, asserting that they had historically failed to honour Patel appropriately. "For decades, Congress concealed Sardar Patel's contributions. Despite his immense service to the nation, Congress conspired to keep him in the shadows. However, under PM Modi's leadership, Sardar Patel's legacy has been celebrated to inspire commitment to a strong, united India. As we commemorate Patel on his birth anniversary, millions of Indians are reminded of his ideals, with PM Modi leading the country towards Atmanirbhar Bharat," Sonowal said. (ANI)
