Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday alleged that a Assam BJP karyakarta (worker) from Samaguri was "killed by Congress goons" and slammed Congress for "orchestrating poll violence and undermining democracy".

"My deepest condolences to the family of our BJP Assam karyakarta from Samaguri, Late Bipul Saikia, who was violently attacked and killed by goons of INC Assam. Those responsible will be held accountable. This crime is a grim reminder of the Congress' deception, those who chant "Samvidhan Bachao" are the very ones orchestrating poll violence and undermining democracy. The sacrifice of our karyakartas shall not go in vain," Assam CM posted on X.

Earlier on Thursday, under the Samaguri constituency a clash between BJP and Congress workers.

BJP ally United People's Party Liberal has fielded Nirmal Kumar Brahma as its party candidate for the by-election in the Sidli seat.
