Ahead of the bypolls in Karnataka, Home Minister G. Parmeshwara on Saturday claimed that internal party surveys indicate a favourable outcome for the Congress.

The bypolls in these three constituencies are taking place following the resignations of HD Kumaraswamy from Channapatna, Basavaraj Bommai from Shiggaon, and Tukaram from Sandur after their wins in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

"There are three by-elections happening in Karnataka. The High Command has already announced the candidates, and our party leaders, including our President and Chief Minister, will take the necessary steps to secure victory in all these constituencies," Parmeshwara said while speaking to ANI.

Expressing confidence in the Congress's victory in all three Karnataka constituencies going to bypolls, Parmeshwara said, "We have conducted internal surveys led by party leaders, and based on the findings, I can confirm that the Congress is set to win."

The Congress has announced candidates for all three Karnataka bypolls.

On Thursday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge approved the candidature of Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan as the party's candidate for the Shiggaon constituency in the upcoming Legislative Assembly bypolls in Karnataka.

The party has named CP Yogeshwara, who joined Congress on Wednesday after resigning as the BJP MLC on Monday, as their candidate for Channapatna, and E Annapurna, wife of Bellary MP E Tukaram, for Sandur.

Meanwhile, the NDA on Thursday fielded JD(S) State Youth Unit President Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Union Minister and Karnataka JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy, as their candidate for the upcoming Channapatna bypoll.

The byelections in Karnataka are scheduled for November 13, alongside 47 assembly constituencies and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The counting of votes will take place on November 23. (ANI)
