Preparing for the upcoming festival of lights Diwali, and Uttarakhand's foundation day on November 9, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials to ensure there are better arrangements for cleanliness, security, and traffic across the state.

CM Dhami held a meeting in the state secretariat with various officials on Friday.

He also directed that special attention should be paid to traffic management on the festival of Diwali. "It should be ensured that people do not face any kind of problem in commuting. The fire department should make adequate arrangements of fire vehicles to prevent fire incidents on Diwali," said CM Dhami according to a statement by the CM's office.

The CM also highlighted in a post on X that the health department, along with the burn unit should be operational for 24 hours during the festival.

Additionally, the CM also instructed that there should be regular sampling of food items to prevent food adulteration.

"Strict action should be taken against the concerned if adulteration, spitting incidents and deficiency in quality are found in food items," said CM Dhami.

Regarding the state's foundation day, to be celebrated on November 9, the CM directed all District Magistrates to run a special campaign for cleanliness in all urban and rural areas of the districts.

"cleanliness should be made a public programme. Various programmes will be organised in the state from 6th to 12th November to mark the State Formation Day," said CM Dhami.

He also directed officials to ensure proper security arrangements to be made at the inter-state and international borders of the state in view of both these major events.

The CM also said, "We are entering the silver jubilee year of the state. To bring Uttarakhand among the leading states of the country, we all have to work with the spirit of Team Uttarakhand."

Uttarakhand would be completing 24 years as a state in 2024, formed on November 9 2000, as the 27th state of India. It was carved out of northern part of Uttar Pradesh.

The state is located at the foothills of the Himalayan mountain ranges, making it a largely hilly state. It also shared international borders with Tibet in the north and Nepal in the east. (ANI)
