The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has not identified any signs of sabotage in four recent railway track accidents, official sources said on Friday.

However, the officials said, the NIA is investigating these four train accidents as part of a preliminary inquiry.

"NIA hasn't yet found any evidence of sabotage in four train derailments that took place on different occasions in different places, but the investigation is ongoing. We are examining four such incidents as part of a preliminary inquiry," the officials, privy to the development said.

The revelation comes as multiple train derailment incidents have emerged in the last two months. In all such accidents, gas cylinders, boulders, or broken rails have been placed on railway tracks with the intention of damaging trains or endangering passengers.

Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express train accident in Tamil Nadu on October 12 is the latest accident among the four being probed by the NIA.

A driver of a goods train from Kanpur to Prayagraj on September 22 spotted a gas cylinder on the track and managed to stop the train.

A damaged cylinder and a Molotov cocktail were also found on a track on September 15 from where Kalindi Express was to pass on. (ANI)
