"People wanted a new face..." NCP (SCP) leader Jayant Patil on Yogendra Pawar's candidature from Baramati

After the announcement of the first list of NCP candidates, Maharashtra State President of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) leader Jayant Patil on Thursday exuded confidence in the victory of Yogendra Pawar against his uncle Ajit Pawar in the Baramati constituency. Yogendra Pawar, who is the grandnephew of Sharad Pawar and nephew of Ajit Pawar is going to contest the polls from Baramati against his uncle Ajit Pawar in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. He is the son of Ajit Pawar's younger brother Shrinivas Pawar. On Yogendra Pawar's candidature from Baramati, Jayant Patil said, "He has been working there after the Lok Sabha elections and his family is very well known. People wanted a new face to contest the polls. He is educated and takes everyone along...I am confident that the public of Baramati will vote for him..."On being asked if there will be a Pawar Vs Pawar battle again in Baramati, Patil said, "I am not sure of that, but from our end we have nominated him as party's candidate"Notably, in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Ajit Pawar's sister Supriya Sule contested against her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar.

The Nationalist Congress party (Sharad Pawar faction) on Thursday announced a list of 45 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra scheduled for November 20.

The National Congress party has fielded Jayant Patil from Islampur, Jitendra Awahad from Mumbra, Gulabrao Deokar from Jalgaon Rural, Ashok Rao Pawar from Shirur, Anil Deshmukh from Katol and Rohit Pawar from Karjat Jamkhed constituency.Rajendra Shingane is contesting from Rajendra Shingane, Bapu Saheb Pathare from Vadgaon Sheri and Rohini Khadse from Muktainagar."As per instructions from Nation President Sharad Pawar, I am announcing the first list of NCP SP. Jayant Patil to contest from Islampur. Jitendra Awahad to contest from Mumbra. Anil Deshmukh to contest from Katol. Rohit Pawar to contest from Karjat Jamkhed and Rohini Khadse to contest from Muktainagar," Jayant Patil said. In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena won 56 seats, and the Congress secured 44 seats. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, while the Shiv Sena won 63 and the Congress 42. (ANI)
