J-K LG Manoj Sinha chairs review meeting on region's security, calls for dismantling terror ecosystem

After the Ganderbal terror attack, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha directed the police on Wednesday to tighten security measures around key infrastructure projects and construction camps in the union territories.

The LG held a review meeting in Srinagar at Raj Bhavan today on security situation in Kashmir Division

He further directed a security audit of infrastructure projects, round-the-clock nakas at the strategic points, night patrolling and area domination.

"The police must ensure robust security and intelligence grid and intensified, well-planned joint operation with army and other security agencies to eliminate terrorism," said the LG.

Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti; Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Shri Vijay Kumar; Additional Director General of Police, CID, Nitish Kumar; Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi; Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and other senior officials of J&K Police attended the meeting.

The direction comes after a doctor, designer and five construction workers were killed in a horrific terror attack in Gagangir in Ganderbal district.

LG Sinha had announced Rs 6 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each martyred civilian. Additionally, Rs 15 lakh provided as an immediate measure by the APCO Infratech company. An ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh was also announced to all the injured.

He also visited Gaganir on October 22 to interavt with the officers and workers of the Project Implementing Agency and review security measures at the project site, according to a statement. the Police, Civil Administration, the Project Implementing Agency, and other security agencies.

During his visit, he chaired another meeting with various officers from the police, civil administration and various security agencies.

He further called for strict action against perpetrators of terrorisms, including anyone aiding them.

"The entire terror eco-system including perpetrators and those aiding and abetting terrorists requires to be completely dismantled," LG Sinha added. (ANI)
