Uttarakhand Chief Secretary chairs State Health Family Welfare Committee 12th governing body meeting

To make the maximum use of large oxygen plants installed during Covid-19 and to ensure a safe Chardham Yatra and tourism in Uttarakhand, the state's chief secretary Radha Raturi directed the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department to keep an adequate number of oxygen concentrators at all high altitude dhams, tourist places, hotels and dharamshalas including Adi Kailash in Kedarnath.

While chairing the 12th Governing Body meeting of Uttarakhand Health and Family Welfare Committee in the Secretariat on Tuesday, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi also instructed officials that special focus should be given to improve the medical services and human resources instead of building more buildings and infrastructure in the health and medical sector in the state.

The Chief Secretary has also given instructions to increase health literacy at the grassroot level in the state.

In the meeting the Chief Secretary also approved the proposal for rationalization of honorarium of personnel working under National Health Mission Uttarakhand.

Along with this, she gave various financial approvals for various works of central oxygen pipeline and manifold, oxygen plant in Community Health Centre Salt and Chaukhutia and oxygen plant and shed works in Community Health Centre Sahaspur and Doiwala

Also as an initiative to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the state, Raturi on Tuesday directed to immediately start a pilot project in Haridwar, as per an official release.

Along with this, she has given instructions to make maternal death audit mandatory to reduce maternal mortality rate and effective coordination between the Health Department and NHM, the statement read.

To achieve the target of making the state TB-free by 2025 on time, the Chief Secretary has directed to identify TB-dominated areas and run special campaigns there. (ANI)
