As the nation celebrates Karwa Chauth with great excitement, women from Punjabi and Sindhi communities gathered at temples to perform traditional rituals in Uttar Pradesh's capital on Sunday. They also exchanged thalis as part of the celebration.

Satyamvada Singh, who has been observing the Karwa Chauth fast for six years, told ANI, "I believe that the Sindhi and Punjabi communities celebrate Karwa Chauth in the best way in Lucknow. We come to the temple first, exchange our thalis, and pray for the long life of our husbands."

She added that her husband also observes the fast, highlighting their shared commitment to the festival. "We both want to live long together and now we are just waiting for the moon to appear so we can break our fast. It is such an auspicious day that we do not feel that we are having a fast".

Karwa Chauth is one of the most important festivals celebrated mainly by Hindu married women in India. It is the celebration of marriage, wherein the wife fasts the entire day for a long and healthy life for her husband.

The married women follow the 'nirjala' fast without food and water, and the moon plays vital role in fasting. Women can break their fast after the sighting of the 'chandrama'. (ANI)
