Jharkhand polls: BJP's Navin Jaiswal thanks PM Modi, party leadership for fielding him from Hatia

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Navin Jaiswal thanked party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for fielding him from Hatia Constituency for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly election.

"I thank PM Modi, BJP state president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and all the senior leaders. The party has given a chance to a leader like me," Jaiswal told ANI.

BJP on Saturday announced its first list of 66 candidates for Jharkhand elections as the ruling JMM-led alliance finalised the contours of their seat-sharing agreement.

The BJP list included the names of former Jharkhand Chief Ministers Champai Soren and Babulal Marandi.

Champai Soren will contest from the Saraikella assembly seat. Following the announcement, he exuded confidence that the BJP would form the government.

"BJP's performance will be the best, and our government will be formed. We are fully prepared. Whatever work the BJP gives me, I will do that," Champai Soren told ANI.

Former CM Babulal Marandi will contest from Dhanwar, Lobin Hembrom is in the fray from Borio, Sita Soren from Jamtara, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, and Geeta Koda from Jaganathpur. Meera Munda, wife of Union Minister Arjun Munda, has been fielded from Potka.

Bharatiya Janata Party will contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections in alliance with All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). BJP will contest 68 seats, AJSU 10 seats, JD-U two seats, and LJP one seat.

Elections are being held for the 81 seats of the Jharkhand assembly in two phases on November 13 and November 20. The counting of votes will be held on November 23.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday announced that the INDIA bloc will contest the Jharkhand Assembly polls together, and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress will contest 70 of 81 seats in the state assembly.

Hemant Soren said the remaining seats will be contested by other parties of the INDIA bloc, and talks are underway with RJD and Left parties. (ANI)
