Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Saturday welcomed the decision of Haryana Government and Supreme Court on sub-categorization into Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

Taking to social media X, Maurya wrote in a post "I personally welcome the implementation of sub-classification in SC/ST by the Haryana government as per the Supreme Court's decision of 1 August 2024. It is important that the benefits of reservation reach the deprived, it is the responsibility of all parties to take forward a large part of our society which has been left far behind even after 75 years. Opposition to this is unacceptable.BJP governments, including Haryana, are committed to the upliftment of every section of the society under the leadership of Modiji on the path of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas."

On October 18, the Haryana cabinet approved the recommendations of the Haryana Scheduled Castes Commission's report to divide the reservation for Scheduled Castes after the decision of the Supreme Court and also approved it to append to the rules of Business of the State Government.

An official release said that sub-classification will promote equality of opportunity and common merit list will determine inter-seniority of candidates from Scheduled Castes in Haryana.

It said Haryana will regularly update Scheduled Caste list in line with Central Government notifications.

Meanwhile, the Deputy CM also spoke on Bharatiya Janata Party's membership campaign and said that the Maha Abhiyan was conducted in the whole country.

"The membership campaign what we also call as the Maha Abhiyan was conducted in the whole country. Today under Yogi Adityanath, I got the chance to be a member in the campaign and I am really glad about that. We will achieve the objective through this campaign," he said.

The membership drive, called 'Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024,' began on September 2. (ANI)
