Reacting to the hat-trick victory of the BJP in the Haryana Assembly election, the party's newly elected MLA from Ambala Cantt Anil Vij has said everyone was talking about anti-incumbency but no one knew about pro-incumbency.

"Everyone was talking about anti-incumbency, but no one knew about pro-incumbency. Our government worked a lot. We changed the system and removed corruption. We stopped the looting that was being done over the years. I said that the BJP would form the government," Vij told ANI.

On Congress blaming the Electronic Voting Machines for their defeat in the Haryana assembly elections, he said, "When the results do not come in their favour, they blame the EVM. Everyone knows about this character of the Congress party."

Addressing a press conference on the results in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, party leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera said they had received "very serious complaints" on the process of counting and they will move the Election Commission.

Jairam Ramesh said, "What we have seen today in Haryana is a victory for manipulation, a victory for subverting the will of the people, and it is a defeat for transparent democratic processes."

"The results in Haryana are unexpected, completely surprising, and counter-intuitive. It goes against ground reality. It goes against what the people of Haryana had made their minds up for, which was for change and transformation. I think under these circumstances, we can't accept the results that have been announced today," he said.

"We have received very serious complaints on the process of counting and the functioning of EVMs in at least three districts. There are more that are coming in. We have spoken to our senior colleagues in Haryana and this information is being collected. We hope to present this in a consolidated form to the Election Commission tomorrow or the day after. We will seek time...Serious questions have been raised by our candidates. We will bring it to the notice of the Election Commission," he added.

The Congress in Haryana could not capitalize on the 10 years of anti-incumbency of the BJP government. The BJP won 48 out of 90 seats in the Haryana assembly, while Congress managed to win 37 seats. Independents won 3 seats, and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured 2 seats, according to Election Commission data issued on Tuesday. (ANI)
