Sainik School in Andhra Pradesh's Korukonda celebrated the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on Tuesday.

The event was presided over by the school's Principal, Group Captain SS Shastri. Vice Principal, Wing Commander Kiran V, also graced the occasion.

Addressing the event, SS Shastri applauded the efforts of the cadets and staff in organizing the event and emphasized the importance of the Air Force in safeguarding India's skies.

Vice Principal Wing Commander Kiran V, during his speech, shared the inspiring story of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only Param Vir Chakra from the Indian Air Force, who laid down his life defending the country during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. "Flying Officer Sekhon's bravery and sacrifice reminded us all of the spirit of dedication and courage that each one of us should strive for. His legacy is a beacon of inspiration for all cadets, urging them to aim high and serve the nation selflessly," he said.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Air Wing cadets led by ANO K Jayaprakash also participated in the celebrations.

The program commenced with the Air Force song, setting the tone for the day's celebrations. A series of presentations and speeches followed, shedding light on the history and remarkable victories of the Indian Air Force, emphasizing its integral role in national defence and security.

A prize distribution ceremony was held, in which certificates were awarded to cadets who successfully completed the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) courses.

This year's theme was, 'Bhartiya Vayu Sena - Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar' (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant), and it reflected the force's dedication to protecting India's airspace.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier extended Air Force Day greetings to the IAF and its pilots for their courage, professionalism and role in protecting and safeguarding the nation.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, "Air Force Day greetings to our brave air warriors. Our Air Force is admired for their courage and professionalism. Their role in protecting our nation is extremely commendable."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended greetings to Air warriors and wrote, "Greetings to all courageous Air Warriors and their families on the Indian Air Force (IAF) Day."

"The IAF is synonymous with courage, valour and professionalism. They have always kept our skies safe and are widely admired for their service during times of crisis. India is proud of its air warriors. @IAF_MCC," Singh said. (ANI)
