Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the annual function of Shaheed Khemchandra Dorbi Government Post Graduate College at Betalghat, Nainital on Monday. During the event, he inaugurated six schemes worth 691.06 lakhs and laid the foundation stone for a scheme valued at 795.69 lakhs, totalling 1486.75 lakhs.
CM Dhami made several key announcements, including the construction of motor roads in Chhini Matela, Suyalbari village, and Chafa village. He also approved projects for the Betalghat Durgapuri Mata temple, Sukha Malli Chulia Goljyu Devta Maitu Mukoti temple, and sewer and drainage plans in Bhawali Ramnagar and Bhimtal Municipal area, according to an official press release. Additionally, Dhami announced the construction of a mini stadium in Letibunga and Bhimtal, as well as the Ramnagar-Betalghat two-lane road and an auditorium in Mahavidyalaya Betalghat. He honoured the parents of martyr Khem Chandra Dorby by garlanding them and giving them mementoes. He recognized eleven women for becoming Lakhpati Didi and honoured CSC operator Pooja Rawat, the college's principal assistant Dinesh Joshi and Hartapa's assistant teacher Pradeep Bora by garlanding them. In his address, Dhami said, "The life of Khem Chandra, who joined the army at the age of just 20 and dedicated his life to the service of the country, is an inspiration for all of us". He added "Khem Chandra, posted in 50 National Rifles, sacrificed his life while fighting terrorists during flood relief work in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014 and he was posthumously awarded the gallantry medal by the President". He remarked, "when both education and culture develop in a person, only then he can develop the family, society and the country". The CM said that the state government has made a provision to spend more than Rs 1700 crore on youth welfare, sports, higher education and technical education, with special emphasis on the interests of youth power in the ongoing budget. He also mentioned about the ongoing investigation into land allotted to outsiders in the state, ensuring its use for the intended purpose. He assured completion of the land law by the next budget session. The schemes inaugurated by the Chief Minister include the construction of a hostel at Rajiv Gandhi Abhinav Vidyalaya Betalghat for 321.38 lakhs and the construction of a hostel and CC road on the first floor at Government Ashram Paddhati Higher Secondary School Betalghat for 171.71 lakhs, press release added. Additionally, he announced the construction of two Type 2 houses, a boundary wall, two water tanks and toilets, the construction of petrol diesel refilling centre at Sunkiya in Nainital for 75 lakhs, construction of one physics and one biology laboratory each at Government Adarsh Inter College Betalghat for 61.50 lakhs, construction of a laboratory at Government Inter College Jeetuwa Pipal for 61.50 lakhs. Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for DVM and CC road improvement in 1 to 3 km of Bhimtal bypass motor road for 795.69 lakhs and work of 150-meter canal covering. (ANI)
