To celebrate the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has decided to hold the next cabinet meeting in Singrampur village in Damoh district tomorrow, October 5, which has a historic background associated with Rani Durgavati.
Singrampur village is located around 50 kilometres away from Damoh district headquarters and about 300 kilometres away from the state capital Bhopal. It has been the capital of Gondwana rulers Raja Dalpat Shah and Rani Durgavati. The fort of Rani Durgavati, which is famous as Singorgarh Fort is also situated near the village. Additionally, the mausoleum of King Dalpat Shah, husband of Rani Durgavati is also located in the village and a huge statue of Rani Durgavati is installed here. Along with the cabinet meeting, several other programs, including public gathering will also be organised here and all the preparations are on the final stage. Additonally, the CM with ministers will also visit the Singorgarh Fort and the historical places related to Rani Durgavati on the occasion. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Avinash Rawat told ANI, "The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to hold a cabinet meeting on October 5 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati in Singrampur village here. Singrampur has been a part of Gondwana empire and it has a historical importance as well as the Palace of Rani Durgavati is located here and it has been the capital of her state." "CM Mohan Yadav and state cabinet ministers will arrive here for the cabinet meeting. After the meeting, there is a public gathering program and local people have been invited to attend the program. CM Yadav will address the program and then the CM along with ministers will visit the fort and the historical places related to Rani Durgavati," he added. The local residents also expressed their enthusiasm and happiness after the decision of the state government to hold a cabinet meeting in their village. "The Chief Minister has taken a decision to hold a cabinet meeting in this small village on 500th Rani Durgavati Jayanti, which has never happened before. It will bring a positive impact and hope that there will be development in this village. Additionally, with the visit of the CM and cabinet ministers, tourism in the area will be boosted as well," a local resident said. According to local legend, Rani Durgavati who was the daughter of Mahoba's warrior king Maharaj Kirti Barman II Chandel was married to King Dalpath Shah the scion of the King of Mandla. After his marriage to Rani Durgavati, Dalpat Shah didn't go to Mandla, he stayed in Singorgarh. After the death of Mandla King Samgram Shah, Dalpat Shah took over as the ruler and ruled from Singourgarh. After eight years of marriage, Dalpat Shah died due to disease and had one child, Veer Narayan. His mausoleum is located under a banyan tree in Singrampur village. After the death of Shah, Rani Durgavati emerged as the ruler and led many developments here. Now, on the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgavati, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and all the state ministers are going to hold a cabinet meeting here and will also visit the fort and the historical places related to Rani Durgavati.
