Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader R S Praveen Kumar on Wednesday condemned the attack on the party's working president, KT Rama Rao, accusing the Congress party of trying to divert the attention of the people of Telangana from real issues.
"We strongly condemn the brutal attack on our party president by Congress goons yesterday. This reflects the goonda (criminal) culture of the party. The police had prior information about these goons, but none of them made any effort to stop the attack. This is part of a plan by CM Revanth Reddy, who is also the Home Minister of the state," he said. The BRS working president's convoy was allegedly attacked by Congress workers while he was on his way to meet people who are reportedly set to be displaced due to the Musi River Rejuvenation Project. Notably, KTR had on Monday criticised the project, stating, "1 lakh people are about to become homeless," referring to the demolitions set to take place. On Tuesday, Indian Youth Congress Hyderabad city president Motha Rohit and his team blocked KTR's convoy in Amberpet. KTR later posted on X, saying, "You cannot keep me from standing with my people. No bulldozer will silence the voiceless. I am, and I will remain here, by their side. Your goons cannot crush my spirit or stop me from challenging your rule of tyranny, the Goondaraj. The thugs attacking my vehicle have only strengthened my resolve. I will not waver." BRS leader Kumar also claimed that KTR has been exposing scams in the state and called for a judicial inquiry into the attack. "KTR has been exposing scams one by one, which is why Revanth Reddy is resorting to diversion tactics. We demand the highest level of judicial inquiry into this. We also condemn the police, who are merely acting as spectators," he added. Speaking about the Musi River beautification project, he said, "The Congress is clearly trying to divert attention. They are supposed to fulfil their six promises and protect the poor, but instead, they have created a hydra and given it overriding powers in the name of Musi beautification." "Congress is destroying the lives of millions, and KTR and others have been fighting against the party's dictatorial attitude. Meanwhile, Congress is using Konda Surekha, a sitting minister, to level baseless and inhuman allegations against our leadership. We completely condemn this. It reflects the lawlessness in the state," he added. CM Revanth Reddy had announced that historic buildings along the Musi River would be developed into famous tourist spots. He also reiterated the government's commitment to promoting the tourism sector while making Telangana a welfare state. (ANI)
